Picture yourself traveling to multiple countries within a region. What if you could use one SIM card to access them all? But instead of buying a physical card, you could download a plan directly to your phone. Well, you can!

Welcome to the future of regional data plans with Airalo's eSIMs.

What are regional eSIM packs?

Airalo offers four regional travel packages:

Each of these regional plans keeps you connected throughout multiple countries, which is helpful for travelers. You could be using the Eurolink plan while traveling from Germany to France, and the moment you land, you'll be updated by the same data pack.

That makes your local planning much easier when you have fast data at your fingertips. As an example, this could allow you to:

  • Learn what services are connected to and nearby the airport

  • Find information on the transportation system within the region

  • Get info about local maps

  • Get in contact with friends and family and post on social media

  • Get in touch with local communities and events

  • Order your rideshare, book your hotel, finish your work

What are eSIMs?

In short, 'eSIM' stands for an 'embedded subscriber identity module.' Instead of swapping a physical SIM card, you can now download data plans directly to the embedded chip within your phone. It's a big time saver and cost saver since you avoid those nasty roaming fees.

You can check our page on eSIM-compatible devices to learn if your phone is compatible.

What do the regional data packages cover?

Each regional data package will operate slightly differently. Today we're going to run down the countries covered by each package, the different sizes of packages available, top-up ability, and restrictions.

A few important notes about these terms:

  • Data: Refers to the total amount of gigabytes on the card (e.g., 1GB, 3GB, 5GB)

  • Validity Period: The amount of time the pack is active (e.g., one week, two weeks, four weeks)

  • Plan Type: If the plan is data only or has calling credit (Most Airalo plans are data only)

  • Activation Policy: Indicates when the package will activate

  • eKYC: 'electronically know your customer' checks require you to submit travel documentation before downloading your plan

  • Top-up Option: Indicates if the package can be topped up or not
