Controleer voordat je begint met installeren of je apparaat:
- Je apparaat moet eSIM-compatibel en simlockvrij zijn. (zie "Welke apparaten ondersteunen eSIM's?" of "Hoe controleer ik of mijn Android-apparaat eSIM's ondersteunt?")
- Je beschikt over een stabiele verbinding, bij voorkeur wifi. (Je moet de eSIM correct downloaden naar je apparaat en een stabiele internetverbinding is noodzakelijk.)
Waar vind ik de instructies voor eSIM-installatie in de Airalo-app?
Je vindt alle instructies voor het installeren van je eSIM door het volgende te doen.
- Open de Airalo-app.
- Ga naar Mijn eSIM's en selecteer je eSIM.
- Tik op Gegevens bekijken
- Go to the section Ready to use your eSIM?
- Selecteer Installeren of delen.
To view the manual installation instructions and QR code, select Share and more, or start the installation directly by clicking on Start installation.
Most eSIM validity periods start only when the eSIM connects to a mobile network in its coverage area. So installing early usually won’t cause you to lose plan days. In some rare cases, validity may begin at installation, so it’s a good idea to check eSIM's validity policy by selecting Package details before or after purchase.
Een eSIM direct installeren op een Android-apparaat
Sommige Android-modellen ondersteunen directe installatie vanuit de Airalo-app. If available:
- Open de Airalo-app
- Ga naar Mijn eSIM's en selecteer je eSIM
- Selecteer Gegevens bekijken
- Scroll down to find Ready to use your eSIM → Install your eSIM.
- Tap Install or share
- Tap Start installation
- Allow the eSIM to activate if asked. If additional steps appear on your screen, simply follow the instructions shown.
- Wacht een paar minuten totdat je eSIM geactiveerd is.
- Na het voltooien van deze stappen zie je een bevestiging dat je eSIM geïnstalleerd is.
- Slide to Continue
- A pop-up may appear asking you to enable data roaming for your eSIM (if required). If it does, enable it and Slide to continue.
- Another pop-up will ask if you’re already at your destination.
- If you are in the destination country, tap Get Connected to check the steps to connect to your network.
- If you haven’t arrived yet, tap Connect Later.
The installation didn’t go as planned? No worries — we're here to help.
We aim to make your installation experience as smooth as possible. However, if a direct installation attempt fails, you may see a "Something went wrong" message on your screen.
If this happens, simply tap "View options" to access our self-service tools. Depending on the situation, you will be able to:
- Automated Replacement: Quickly replace your eSIM profile.
- Automated Refund: Process a refund for your purchase if the issue cannot be resolved.
- Escalation to Support: Connect directly with our support team for assistance.
Een eSIM installeren via een QR-code op een Android-apparaat
- Selecteer in de Airalo-app de optie QR-code (je kunt de code delen met een ander apparaat of afdrukken)
- Open Instellingen op je apparaat
- Selecteer Netwerk en internet
- Select Mobiel netwerk toevoegen (of eSIM toevoegen)

- Scan je QR code en voer de bevestigingscode in als daarom wordt gevraagd
- Ga terug naar Mobiel netwerk en schakel je eSIM in
- Schakel Mobiele data in
- Schakel Dataroaming in (schakel je primaire lijn uit om roamingkosten te vermijden in het buitenland)
- Stel indien nodig de APN (Access Point Name of toegangspuntnaam) in aan de hand van de gegevens in je Airalo-app
Een eSIM handmatig installeren op een Android-apparaat
- Selecteer de optie Handmatig in de Airalo-app
- Kopieer het SM-DP+-adres en de activeringscode (en de bevestigingscode indien beschikbaar)
- Open Instellingen op je apparaat
- Selecteer Netwerk en internet
- Select Mobiel netwerk toevoegen (of eSIM toevoegen)
- Wanneer je de vraag “Geen simkaart?” krijgt, selecteer je Volgende
- Selecteer Code handmatig invoeren en voer het SM-DP+-adres en de activeringscode uit je Airalo-app in
- Ga terug naar Mobiel netwerk en schakel je eSIM in
- Schakel Mobiele data in
- Schakel Dataroaming in (schakel je primaire lijn uit om roamingkosten te vermijden in het buitenland)
- Stel indien nodig de APN (Access Point Name of toegangspuntnaam) in aan de hand van de gegevens in je Airalo-app
Belangrijke tip:
Once your eSIM is installed via Direct, QR Code, or Manual, you can find the connection settings by opening the same eSIM in the Airalo app. Navigate to My eSIMs → Your eSIM → View details → Ready to use your eSIM → Connect to a network → How to connect.
Wat gebeurt er na de installatie?
Zodra je eSIM is geïnstalleerd en geselecteerd voor data, zou deze automatisch verbinding moeten maken met een ondersteund mobiel netwerk.
Waarom kan ik de installatie-instructies niet vinden nadat ik mijn eSIM geïnstalleerd heb?
Wanneer Airalo detecteert dat je eSIM geïnstalleerd is, zijn de instructies voor het toevoegen van de eSIM mogelijk niet meer zichtbaar in de app. Je ziet dan in plaats daarvan het gedeelte "Verbinding maken", zodat je verbinding kunt maken met een netwerk en je eSIM kunt gebruiken.
Als je om wat voor reden dan ook de installatie-instructies moet raadplegen, kun je de PDF met installatie-instructies raadplegen die bij je bestelbevestiging of de e-mail over de geleverde eSIM gevoegd is.
Understanding your eSIM status: Installed vs. In Use
You can track your setup progress directly in the Airalo app by going to My eSIMs, selecting your eSIM, and tapping View details. Depending on your setup stage, you may see one of these statuses:
- Installed: The eSIM profile has been successfully downloaded and configured on your device.
- In Use: The eSIM has successfully connected to a mobile network and initiated a data session.
Note: In most cases, you can see these status updates in the app. However, please note that status visibility may vary depending on your specific eSIM
If you do not see a status, do not worry — simply check if your eSIM appears in your device’s Settings. If it is there, head over to the "How to connect" section in the app / and follow the steps to get connected at your destination.
