Before installing, make sure that your device:
- Supports eSIMs (see What devices support eSIM? or How do I check if my iOS device supports eSIM?)
- Is carrier-unlocked
- Has a stable internet connection (preferably Wi-Fi)
How to prepare before installing an eSIM
- Log in to your Airalo account
- Go to My eSIMs
- Select the eSIM you want to install
- Tap View details
- Open the installation instructions. Depending on your app version, you may see:
- View Installation Instructions, or
- How to use your eSIM > How to install the eSIM
- Tap QR Code and save or share the code (you may need another device or a printout to scan it later)
How to install an eSIM via QR code on iOS
- Open Settings on your device
- Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data)
- Tap Add eSIM (or Add Cellular/Mobile Data Plan)
- Tap Use QR Code
- Scan or select the saved QR code from your Photos
- Tap Continue twice
- Wait a few minutes for your eSIM to activate, then tap Done
- Choose a label for your eSIM (e.g., “Airalo”)
- On the Default Line pages:
- Select your Primary line for calls and SMS
- Select your Primary line for iMessage & FaceTime
- Select your Airalo eSIM for Cellular/Mobile Data
- Make sure Allow Cellular Data Switching is turned OFF
*If your eSIM supports calls and texts besides data, you may select it for calls and SMS.
How to connect to mobile data
- Open Settings > Cellular (or Settings > Mobile Data)
- Tap your eSIM plan
- Toggle Turn On This Line if it’s not enabled
- Toggle Data Roaming ON (if required — check your eSIM instructions in the Airalo app)
- Go to Cellular/Mobile Data and select your Airalo eSIM as the data line
- Your eSIM should automatically connect to a supported mobile network
