How do I access the internet using an Airalo eSIM on a Samsung Galaxy device?

If you encounter difficulties connecting your Airalo eSIM to the internet on a Samsung Galaxy device after installation, please ensure that you have completed the Connection instructions for your eSIM.

How do I know if I'm using the new Airalo or the public Airalo?

  • If the app asks you to set up your device once and buy packages, you are using the new Airalo. Simply open the Packages tab (formerly "My eSIMs") to complete setup, and after that, whenever you buy a new package for your desired destination, it will be added to that same device automatically — no new setup needed.
  • If the app shows individual eSIM installation instructions for each purchase and the My eSIMs tab instead of Packages, you are likely using the public Airalo.

If you're using the new Airalo

With the new Airalo, you do not need to set up anything new for every trip. You set up your device once on your iOS device, then buy packages for different destinations. You can find the setup instructions in our new Airalo - Setup Guide and FAQs.

If you're using the public Airalo

With the public Airalo, you usually install an eSIM for a specific destination, region, or global package.

Note: Most eSIM validity periods start only when the eSIM connects to a mobile network in its coverage area. So installing early usually won't cause you to lose days of your data plan. In some rare cases, validity may begin at installation, so it's a good idea to check the eSIM's validity policy by selecting Package details before or after purchase.

Where can I find connection instructions?

You can find them in your Airalo account:

  1. Navigate to My eSIMs.
  2. Select your eSIM.
  3. Tap View details.
  4. Go Ready to use your eSIM → Connect to a network.
  5. Tap How to connect.

There, you'll find the exact steps you need to follow, but read on for a quick summary.

In the destination country:

Step 1: Enable your eSIM for data

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Connections.
  3. Select SIM manager.
  4. Ensure that the eSIM is enabled (toggle it ON if not).
  5. Select Mobile data and select your eSIM.

Step 2: Connect to the supported network

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks.
  2. Select Network operators.
  3. Select your eSIM.
  4. Turn OFF Select automatically.
  5. Select the network shown in your Airalo app connection instructions.

Step 3: Update APN settings (if required)

With the new Airalo, the APN is set automatically. If needed as a fallback, you can set it manually to globalapn. With the public Airalo, it is possible you need to set your APN following the steps bellow:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  2. Select your eSIM.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Enter the APN exactly as shown in your Airalo app.
  5. Select OK.
  6. Enter Airalo as the APN's label in the Name field.
  7. Leave the other fields blank.
  8. Select the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner and tap Save.
  9. Ensure that the new APN is selected.

Step 4: Enable Data Roaming (if required)

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks.
  2. Toggle Data Roaming ON or OFF as instructed in your Airalo app.

Understanding your eSIM status: Installed vs. In Use

You can track your setup progress directly in the Airalo app by going to My eSIMs, selecting your eSIM, and tapping View details. Depending on your setup stage, you may see one of these statuses:

  • Installed: The eSIM profile has been successfully downloaded and configured on your device.
  • In Use: The eSIM has successfully connected to a mobile network and initiated a data session.

Note: In most cases, you can see these status updates in the app. However, please note that status visibility may vary depending on your specific eSIM.

If you don't see a status, don't worry — check if your eSIM appears in your device's Settings. If it is there, head over to the "How to connect" section in the app and follow the steps to connect at your destination.

After completing these steps, your Airalo eSIM should connect to the internet. If you still have issues, please contact us via chat in the app or on the website by clicking the chat bubble.
