Taipei Pride – Taiwan

Taipei Pride 2023

Taiwan Pride is one of Asia's largest LGBTQ+ celebrations, drawing over 200,000 participants from across the continent.

Since its inception in 2003, the event has evolved into a vibrant demonstration of love, equality, and progress. The 2025 edition is scheduled from October 24 to 26, with the main parade taking place on October 25.

The parade commences at Taipei City Hall Plaza, weaving through the city's bustling streets before returning to its starting point. Attendees can expect a dynamic array of events, including the Taipei Rainbow Festival, which features live performances, cultural exhibitions, and community workshops.

Additionally, the X-Formosa Rainbow Music Festival offers three nights of electrifying music and dance parties, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

Taiwan's pioneering stance on LGBTQ+ rights, notably becoming the first Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage in 2019, adds profound significance to the celebrations, making it a beacon of hope and inspiration for many in the region.

PinkDot – Singapore

PinkDot attendees lighting up their pink lights

PinkDot is Singapore’s most visible and symbolic LGBTQ+ event, held annually at Hong Lim Park.

Unlike a traditional Pride march, it’s a stationary gathering where attendees dress in pink and come together to form a giant pink dot as a peaceful statement of solidarity and support for the queer community.

It runs alongside PinkFest, a city-wide series of queer-positive cultural and wellness events—from art shows and panel discussions to fitness classes and pop-up performances.

Notably, the Singaporean government banned foreign organizations from sponsoring PinkDot starting in 2017, citing regulations around events at Speakers’ Corner.

While that limited international support, local companies and citizens stepped up in force, proving that the movement is very much homegrown, resilient, and deeply connected to the people it represents.

  • City: Singapore
  • Event Location: Hong Lim Park
  • Date or Period: June 15–30, 2025 (PinkDot rally typically mid-June; Pinkfest spans the month)
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): No official parade; community rally held on June 22, 2025
  • Travel Essentials to Bring: Singapore eSIM, Asia eSIM regional eSIM, Something pink to wear, a reusable water bottle for the heat, a picnic mat or foldable seat

Queer Azaadi Mumbai Pride – India

Queer Azaadi Mumbai Pride (QAM) is one of India’s longest-running LGBTQ+ events, having grown into a powerful symbol of self-expression and resistance.

What started as a small post-Independence Day march in 2008 has evolved into a vibrant, week-long festival that now draws thousands.

Alongside rainbow flags and drag performances, speeches are being made that call for equal rights, legal recognition, and social acceptance. The Pride march cuts through the heart of Mumbai, from August Kranti Maidan to Girgaum Chowpatty, with chants and banners echoing demands for freedom from discrimination and outdated laws like Section 377.

Recent editions have become even more inclusive, introducing accessibility features and themes that address mental health, queer politics, and caste.

  • City: Mumbai
  • Event Location: August Kranti Maidan to Girgaum Chowpatty

The 2025 festival, themed "Born This Way," transformed the city into a vibrant celebration of love and equality.

The parade, stretching from the National Stadium to Ratchaprasong Intersection, will feature a 200-meter-long rainbow flag, symbolizing the unity and strength of the LGBTQ+ community.

This year's event was particularly significant, marking Thailand's recent legalization of same-sex marriage, making it the second Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage.

This is a historic milestone that positioned the country as the first in Southeast Asia to achieve marriage equality.

The festival is a powerful statement of progress and inclusivity, drawing hundreds of thousands of participants and reinforcing Bangkok's reputation as a global Pride destination.

  • City: Bangkok
  • Event Location: From the National Stadium to Ratchaprasong Intersection

Tokyo Rainbow Pride – Japan

Tokyo Rainbow Pride is the beating heart of LGBTQ+ celebration in Japan, drawing tens of thousands each spring to Yoyogi Park for a weekend of visibility, solidarity, and unapologetic joy.

It’s a dazzling showcase of Japan’s vibrant queer community, with rows of colorful booths, stages filled with live music, and banners waving messages of love and equality.

Even though marriage equality is still not the law in Japan, Tokyo Rainbow Pride makes it undeniably clear that the community is vibrant, visible, and driving change.

As the crowd flows into Shibuya and Harajuku for the parade, the energy is electric — but so is the demand on mobile networks.

During massive gatherings like this, local cellular networks can become overwhelmed, leading to dropped calls and slow data speeds.

That’s where Airalo’s eSIM comes in clutch. With Airalo, you can bypass overloaded local carriers and stay connected with high-speed data through an international eSIM that automatically switches to the most substantial available network.

  • City: Tokyo

Seoul Queer Culture Festival – South Korea

People marching at the Seoul Queer Culture FestivaliStock

Seoul’s Queer Culture Festival is more than a parade—it’s a bold act of courage in a space where LGBTQ+ rights are still hotly contested.

Set against the backdrop of government buildings in Seoul Plaza, the event boldly asserts its place in the public eye. Beyond the parade, you’ll find film screenings, exhibitions, and community-led education initiatives that build bridges between generations and identities.

There’s tension, yes—counter-protesters often line the streets—but there’s also undeniable pride and determination. This is a festival rooted in visibility and progress, where every step feels like a declaration that queerness belongs, even when it’s challenged.

  • City: Seoul
  • Event Location: Seoul Plaza and nearby city center routes
  • Date or Period: June 21–29, 2025
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): June 28, 2025

Metro Manila Pride – Philippines

Attendees at Metro Manila Pride

Metro Manila Pride stands as Asia’s longest-running Pride event, and it continues to thrive as a movement that blends joy with fierce advocacy.

The 2025 theme, “LOV3LABAN”, captures the heartbeat of the celebration — a call to love and to fight — perfectly reflecting the evolving struggles and triumphs of the Filipino LGBTQ+ community.

What makes this Pride particularly moving is the diversity of people who attend: students waving hand-painted signs, parents embracing their children with pride, queer artists showcasing their work, and allies marching shoulder to shoulder with parade marchers.

But with tens of thousands in attendance, Metro Manila Pride often pushes the city’s already struggling internet infrastructure to its limits.

The Philippines ranks among the slowest and least reliable internet providers in Asia, and during large-scale events like this, mobile networks can become overwhelmed quickly. That’s where Airalo’s eSIM is a lifesaver.

It helps bypass local network congestion, giving you fast, reliable data to share, navigate, and stay in touch without frustration.

  • City: Quezon City, Metro Manila

Hanoi Pride – Vietnam

Since its inception in 2012, the event has grown in significance, symbolizing the ongoing fight for equality and acceptance in the country.

The 2024 edition, themed "This Gender is Ours," featured a week-long series of events, including an opening ceremony on September 9 and a pride parade on September 22. These events provided a platform for visibility, advocacy, and community building, highlighting the progress made in LGBTQ+ rights, such as the 2015 legalization of gender change.

Hanoi Pride also featured various cultural events, workshops, and parties, fostering a sense of unity and celebration within the community.

While the dates for the 2025 rendition of Hanoi Pride have not been announced yet, their official Facebook page has announced that recruitment for volunteers and event coordinators will begin.

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras – Australia

Sydney’s Mardi Gras is not just a Pride event—it’s a cultural institution that embodies the bold spirit of the LGBTQ+ community in Australia and beyond.

It has deep activist roots tied to the 1978 protest that inspired it, and that legacy of pride as protest lives on in every march, float, and spoken-word performance.

The festivities begin with Fair Day, a massive picnic-style community event featuring music, stalls, and advocacy booths, and continue with exhibitions, panel talks, and high-energy parties. But Mardi Gras is about more than glitter and sequins.

With crowds surging into the tens of thousands, however, the city’s infrastructure can feel the strain.

In fact, even Sydney’s core data centers have experienced outages during storms, and large gatherings can contribute to network slowdowns.

With Airalos regional eSIMs, you can tap into a more stable connection across Australia, bypassing local network bottlenecks, and stay connected.

  • City: Sydney
  • Event Location: Oxford Street and surrounding neighborhoods
  • Date or Period: February 13 to March 1, 2026
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): February 28, 2026
  • Travel Essentials to Bring: Australia eSIM, Oceania regional eSIM, Comfortable yet flamboyant attire, a light jacket for breezy evenings, water bottle, portable charger

One of the highlights is the Rainbow Parade on Ponsonby Road, a vibrant march that seamlessly blends protest with pride, creating an atmosphere that feels both electric and intimate.

What sets Auckland Pride apart is its commitment to accessibility and local voice—it’s unapologetically for the people who live there and shaped by the cultures that call Aotearoa home.

Wellington Pride, also known as Out in the City, has a uniquely personal and grassroots feel that makes it especially meaningful. It centers local voices and often focuses on youth engagement, mental health, and trans visibility.

While it’s smaller in scale compared to Auckland, its heart is enormous. Events span everything from poetry nights and drag brunches to policy roundtables and pop-up queer markets.

The festival is closely tied to the city’s LGBTQ+ history, including the legacy of decriminalization in New Zealand, and it invites everyone to be part of shaping what queer celebration means today.

If you’re looking for a Pride that feels like a heartfelt embrace with just the right amount of sparkle, Wellington delivers.

There’s something deeply electric about NYC Pride that makes it unforgettable. It’s not just the sheer scale of it—the millions who flood the streets, the mega-stages, or the glitter cannons—but the way the city pulses with Pride energy in every borough.

The march is powerful, the PrideFest street fair is buzzing, and Pride Island? Let’s just say dancing under the skyline to world-class DJs is a core memory.

Pride Toronto is rooted in the historic 1981 Operation Soap bathhouse raids, a pivotal moment that ignited decades of activism and ultimately led to one of the world’s most dynamic Pride festivals.

Today, the event fills June with programming, including the Dyke March, Trans March, Family Pride, and community-curated events like Blockorama, which centers Black queer experiences.

The main Pride Parade caps off the season with elaborate floats, powerful signs, and a sense of liberation that’s palpable in the air.

There’s a rhythm to San Francisco Pride that feels both deeply grounded and totally unfiltered.

One minute you’re dancing in a street fair, and the next you’re watching elders from the original ACT UP chapters being honored on a main stage.

It’s political, it’s playful, and it’s very San Francisco. The parade down Market Street is iconic, and the Civic Center transforms into a full-on festival of food, music, art, and activism.

Whether it’s your first time or your tenth, there’s always a sense of discovery—and a reminder that Pride here has always been about more than rainbow capitalism.

Mexico City delivers in every sense if you’re looking for Pride with both heart and heat. The parade winds through the monumental Paseo de la Reforma, framed by skyscrapers and historic landmarks, with crowds that bring more energy than a stadium concert.

What I love most about it is how the event seamlessly blends activism with artistry—you’ll see everything from floats blasting cumbia to protest banners demanding change.

It’s loud, it’s proud, and it’s beautifully inclusive. Whether you’re dancing, marching, or just soaking in the spectacle, the sense of unity is unforgettable.

Parada do Orgulho LGBT de São Paulo – Brazil

Parada do Orgulho LGBT de São Paulo in 2019

The first time I went to São Paulo Pride in 2019, I didn’t just witness a parade. I felt like I stepped into something far more significant than a celebration.

Parada do Orgulho LGBT de São Paulo is the largest Pride event in the world. When you're in the middle of millions filling Avenida Paulista, the energy is absolutely electric. What makes it unforgettable isn't just the music or the massive floats, but the way every part of the event carries a purpose.

From banners calling for equality to tributes honoring Brazil's LGBTQ+ trailblazers, the entire city becomes a stage for joy, protest, and visibility.

And it’s not just about the parade.

In the days before and after, São Paulo is alive with queer film screenings, live music, open forums, and a nightlife scene that doesn’t quit. If you’re looking for a Pride that shakes your soul and pulls you in from every angle, this is the one.

  • City: São Paulo
  • Event Location: Avenida Paulista
  • Date or Period: June 6–9, 2025
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): June 8, 2025
  • Travel Essentials to Bring: Brazil eSIM, Latin America regional eSIM, Comfortable shoes for long walks, a portable fan, electrolytes, a compact camera or phone with plenty of memory

Buenos Aires Pride – Argentina

Buenos Aires Pride has a magic all its own—maybe it’s the rhythm of the city or the way the community shows up with full passion and purpose.

The parade starts with energy and ends in something close to catharsis at the historic Plaza de Mayo. Along the way, you’ll pass tango dancers, drag queens in full glitter armor, and activists chanting for inclusion and change. It’s joyful and political, loud and meaningful.

I've always left this one feeling recharged and connected, both to the people and the purpose of Pride.

  • City: Buenos Aires
  • Event Location: From Plaza de los Dos Congresos to Plaza de Mayo
  • Date or Period: November 1–8, 2025
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): November 8, 2025
  • Travel Essentials to Bring: Argentina eSIM, Latin America regional eSIM, A lightweight flag to wave, layers for fluctuating spring temps, a power bank, and snacks for the route

Santiago Pride – Chile

Santiago Pride, or Marcha del Orgullo, feels raw and at its absolute best.

The vibe blends party and protest perfectly—one moment you're dancing with strangers under bursts of rainbow confetti, and the next you're shouting alongside activists calling for trans rights and more profound representation. What stood out to me was the passion.

Every sign, chant, and outfit was worn with purpose. It’s a grassroots event that’s grown rapidly, and every year, more people join in, adding to its energy and momentum. This is a Pride that wears its heart on its sleeve.

  • City: Santiago
  • Event Location: Plaza Italia to Plaza Los Héroes
  • Date or Period: June 29, 2025
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): June 29, 2025
  • Travel Essentials to Bring: Chile eSIM, Latin America regional eSIM, A small backpack for water and essentials, a bilingual sign if you want to make a statement, weather-flexible layers, and your best dancing shoes—trust me, you’ll need them.

Europe

Madrid Orgullo (MADO) – Spain

Madrid knows how to do Pride with style, sass, and substance. I arrived thinking it would be big—but nothing prepares you for the scale of it.

The Chueca neighborhood turns into a nonstop celebration for days, with open-air concerts, drag shows, and events that spill into every corner of the city.

The main parade feels like a victory march and a music festival rolled into one, but what really struck me was the Human Rights Conference earlier in the week—it reminded me how deeply political Pride still is. Madrid Pride is electric, emotional, and completely unforgettable.

  • City: Madrid
  • Event Location: Chueca and Gran Vía
  • Date or Period: July 1–7, 2025
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): July 5, 2025
  • Travel Essentials to Bring: Spain eSIM, Europe eSIM, A pocket Spanish phrasebook (or translation app), portable fan for the summer heat, festival gear for nighttime street parties

Berlin Pride (Christopher Street Day) – Germany

Attendees at Berlin Pride

Berlin Pride in Germany, or CSD, is one of the most exhilarating and politically charged Prides I’ve been to.

The whole city turns up, not just the LGBTQ+ community, but allies, families, and curious tourists who want to stand for something—and dance while doing it.

The parade is massive, winding through the heart of Berlin with float after float blasting everything from techno to 80s pop.

One of the best parts? The speeches. They’re powerful and unapologetic, making it crystal clear that Pride in Berlin is still very much a protest, even when it feels like a party.

  • City: Berlin
  • Event Location: Kurfürstendamm to Brandenburg Gate
  • Date or Period: July 18–20, 2025
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): July 19, 2025
  • Travel Essentials to Bring: Germany eSIM, Europe eSIM, A public transport pass, a crossbody bag to keep things secure, weather-appropriate gear (Berlin in July can surprise you)

Amsterdam Pride – Netherlands

Amsterdam Pride

There’s something totally surreal about watching a Pride parade float down a canal in one of Europe’s most charming cities. Amsterdam Pride is unlike any other.

Boats decked out in rainbow everything glide through the historic waterways while the crowds cheer from every bridge and sidewalk.

But it’s not all about the canal parade—events like Pride Walk and Pride Park make it a full week of activism, connection, and celebration. The vibe is high-spirited and open-minded, and the city’s progressive pulse is present in every corner. It’s fun, freeing, and beautifully Dutch in its creativity.

  • City: Amsterdam
  • Event Location: Throughout the city, with the main parade on the canals in the city center
  • Date or Period: July 26 – August 3, 2025
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): August 2, 2025 (Canal Parade)
  • Travel Essentials to Bring: Netherlands eSIM, Europe eSIM, Sunglasses for canal-side viewing, lightweight layers, reusable water bottle, a map or transit app to hop between venues

Paris Pride doesn’t just stroll through the city—it surges with purpose, color, and pride. The march begins near Montparnasse and snakes its way through the heart of Paris, picking up energy with every step.

It’s loud in all the right ways: chants for change, laughter from the crowd, and speakers that call out injustice while celebrating joy. What I loved most was the mix of flamboyance and fierce resistance.

Drag queens in six-inch heels marched beside activists holding placards, all united in their presence. Paris brings the soul of protest and the style of the runway, both in perfect balance.

  • City: Paris
  • Event Location: From Montparnasse to Place de la République
  • Date or Period: June 22–29, 2025
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): June 28, 2025

Johannesburg Pride – South Africa

Johannesburg Pride marchers and attendees

Johannesburg Pride, also known as Pride of Africa, is more than just a milestone event in the LGBTQ+ calendar—it’s a living legacy of protest, celebration, and cultural evolution.

Held annually in Sandton, this Pride is recognized as the oldest and most prominent on the African continent. It’s where thousands gather not only to celebrate identity but also to commemorate the history of queer activism in South Africa, especially in the context of a post-apartheid and post-criminalization era.

The vibe is electric, featuring high-energy performances, interactive community booths, and a strong lineup of panels that delve deeply into local and continental LGBTQ+ issues.

You’ll find yourself surrounded by drag excellence, progressive dialogue, and an unwavering call for inclusion. It’s the kind of Pride that doesn’t just make noise—it makes change.

Cape Town Pride – South Africa

Cape Town Pride captures the heart of South Africa’s Mother City with a dazzling mix of beachside flair, bold activism, and community-led programming. It’s the kind of festival where you can move from a panel on trans rights in the morning to a sunset party near the waterfront by evening.

Spanning several weeks, Cape Town Pride combines cultural and educational elements with a laid-back coastal vibe. The parade and Mardi Gras day are a visual feast—think sequins, satirical floats, and dance music echoing off the mountains.

But it’s the deeper programming, including safe-space dialogues and intersectional events, that makes this Pride more than a party. It’s a joyful, necessary assertion of visibility in a city that’s beautifully diverse but still wrestling with inequality.

  • City: Cape Town
  • Event Location: From Prestwich Street to Green Point Urban Park
  • Date or Period: TBC, Expected to be from Late February to Early March 2026
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): TBC, Expected in early March 2026
  • Travel Essentials to Bring: South Africa eSIM, Africa regional eSIM, Layers for breezy weather, a wide-brimmed hat, hand sanitizer, a low-key but loud outfit for Mardi Gras

Gaborone Pride – Botswana

Gaborone Pride is one of the most inspiring examples of how a Pride event can thrive through grassroots power and resilience.

Since Botswana’s groundbreaking 2019 ruling that decriminalized same-sex relationships, Gaborone Pride has emerged as a symbol of cultural resistance and forward motion.

It’s deeply community-focused, often weaving local traditions into a weekend of parades, panels, and creative showcases. Expect intimate talks on mental health, moving musical performances, and a celebration that holds space for joy and justice in equal measure.

While the official site has not revealed details for 2025’s event, their Instagram account announced that this year’s Pride event will be held on 4th October.

  • City: Gaborone
  • Event Location: TBC, expected to be in Central Gaborone and civic spaces

Tel Aviv Pride – Israel

Tel Aviv Pride is the Middle East’s most prominent LGBTQ+ celebration, and it’s easy to see why it draws in visitors from all over the world. The city transforms into a rainbow-colored spectacle, merging Mediterranean charm with full-on festival energy.

The main parade is the heart of the celebration, but the lead-up includes beach parties, open-air concerts, drag brunches, and panel discussions that highlight both joy and justice.

It’s a celebration of progress in a region where LGBTQ+ visibility often comes with risk, and Tel Aviv takes that role seriously by balancing entertainment with advocacy. This Pride has become a cornerstone of queer tourism, but its roots in community and activism remain visible—and vital.

  • City: Tel Aviv
  • Event Location: Starts at Gan Meir and winds through the city to Charles Clore Park along the coast
  • Date or Period: June 6–13, 2025
  • Pride March or Parade Date (if any): June 13, 2025

Whether it’s the grassroots warmth of Hanoi or the massive crowds in São Paulo, every city brings something unique to the global celebration of LGBTQ+ identity.

These events aren’t just parties but spaces for joy, education, and belonging. But no matter where your Pride path leads, staying connected is essential.

Whether you're coordinating meetups, sharing your favorite moments in real-time, or navigating unfamiliar streets, having fast and reliable data is essential. That’s why I always travel with an Airalo eSIM

Here’s why Airalo is great for Pride travelers:

  • Instant setup so you’re online the moment you land
  • No roaming fees when you hop between countries
  • High-speed data for live-streaming parades and events
  • Supports dual SIM, so you can keep your local number active
  • Easy top-ups from your phone if you need more data mid-festival

Whether you’re reuniting with friends in a sea of rainbow flags or sharing your favorite moments in real time, Airalo helps you move through the world with freedom and confidence.
