How do I know which version of the Airalo app I'm using?

You may be using the new Airalo if the app asks you to set up your device once and then buy packages for different destinations.

You may be using the public Airalo if the app gives you installation instructions for a specific eSIM after each purchase.

If you're using the public Airalo

In the public Airalo, you usually buy an eSIM for a specific destination, region, or global coverage area.

To get an eSIM:

1. Open the Airalo app or go to the Airalo website.
2. Search for your destination.
3. Choose the eSIM package that best fits your trip.
4. Review the package details, including:
   • Data amount
   • Validity period
   • Price
   • Supported networks
   • Coverage area
5. Create or log in to your Airalo account.
6. Complete your purchase.
7. Go to My eSIMs to install and activate your eSIM.

After purchase, you'll receive installation instructions for your eSIM. Follow the instructions before you travel, ideally while connected to stable Wi-Fi.

If you're using the new Airalo

In the new Airalo, you do not need to buy and install a new eSIM for every trip.

Instead, you:

1. Set up your device once.
2. Buy packages for the destinations you need.
3. Use those packages through the same eSIM when you arrive.

To get started:

1. Open the Airalo app.
2. Go to Packages or the Store.
3. Tap Get started or Set up your device if prompted.
4. Follow the setup steps in the app.
5. Complete the device setup when your phone asks you to add the eSIM.
6. Return to the Airalo app.

Once your device is set up, you can buy a package for your destination.

To buy a package:

1. Go to the Store.
2. Search for your destination.
3. Choose a package.
   You'll be able to pick between Unlimited and Fixed data packages.
4. Review the package details.
5. Complete your purchase.

Your package will be added to the eSIM already set up on your device. When you arrive at your destination, your package will start once your device connects to a supported network.

Can I buy a package before setting up my device?

With the new Airalo, this depends on whether you're purchasing in the app or on the website.

In the Airalo app

You can buy a package before setting up your device. If your device is not set up yet, your package may show as Set up needed. You'll need to complete the setup before you can use the package.

On the Airalo website

If you do not have a device set up yet, you may be asked to complete setup in the Airalo app before finishing your purchase.

Before you buy

Before buying an eSIM or package, make sure:

• Your device supports eSIM.
• Your device is not carrier-locked or network-locked.
• Your destination is covered.
• The package data amount and validity period fit your trip.
• You have a stable internet connection for setup or installation.

What happens after I buy?

Public Airalo

After purchase, your eSIM will appear in My eSIMs. Open it to view installation and activation instructions.

New Airalo

After purchase, your package will be added to your device. You can manage it in Packages.

Your package may show one of these statuses:

Ready to use	The device is set up and the package is waiting to connect at the destination.
In use / Active	The package is connected, and data is being consumed.
